Description

This rich and aromatic garlic bread is elevated with caramelized shallots, fresh herbs, and a golden, buttery crust. A perfect side for pasta nights, soups, or holiday feasts that adds a gourmet touch to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil and add the sliced shallots. Cook for 5–7 minutes until soft and caramelized, stirring frequently.
  3. Add minced garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute, just until fragrant. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, combine softened butter, caramelized shallot-garlic mixture, parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully blended.
  5. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and spread the butter mixture evenly over each half.
  6. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan over the top.
  7. Place bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the top is golden.
  8. For extra crispness, broil on high for an additional 1–2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  9. Slice and serve warm.
