Description
A delicious twist on a Philly favorite, this cheesesteak stromboli wraps tender beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and gooey cheese in golden pizza dough—perfect for game day or family dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
- 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Optional: marinara or cheese sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté sliced beef until browned and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté bell pepper and onion until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough, if using.
- Evenly layer the cooked beef, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheese over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Carefully roll up the dough lengthwise into a log, pinching the seams to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the stromboli with beaten egg and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
- Make ahead and refrigerate unbaked stromboli; bake when ready to serve.
- Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and better browning.
