Description

A delicious twist on a Philly favorite, this cheesesteak stromboli wraps tender beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and gooey cheese in golden pizza dough—perfect for game day or family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
  • 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Optional: marinara or cheese sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté sliced beef until browned and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté bell pepper and onion until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough, if using.
  6. Evenly layer the cooked beef, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheese over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  7. Carefully roll up the dough lengthwise into a log, pinching the seams to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the stromboli with beaten egg and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate unbaked stromboli; bake when ready to serve.
  • Use parchment paper for easier cleanup and better browning.
