Description
A delicious twist on the Philly classic—this stromboli is packed with tender beef, sautéed onions, and melty American cheese, all rolled in crisp, golden pizza dough for a hearty, sliceable meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- Cooking spray
- 1 (21-ounce) package frozen beef sandwich steaks
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 (13.8-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/2 pound American cheese, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly spray a skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat.
- Break up frozen beef sandwich steaks into the skillet and cook, stirring, until browned—about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until onions soften. Let cool slightly.
- Unroll pizza dough onto a clean surface and stretch into a 12-inch square.
- Spoon beef mixture along one edge of dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Top with sliced American cheese.
- Roll dough tightly like a jelly roll, sealing seams and ends.
- Place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Rest 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Substitute provolone or mozzarella if preferred over American cheese.
- Letting the beef mixture cool prevents the dough from becoming soggy.
- Perfect for game day, lunchboxes, or casual dinners.
