Description

These poppable French toast bites are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in a buttery cinnamon-sugar mix. Perfect for brunch, snacking, or dipping into maple syrup, they bring classic comfort in a fun mini form.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices thick white bread or brioche, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for frying

For the coating:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  2. Add bread cubes to the egg mixture and gently toss to coat. Let sit for 2–3 minutes so the bread absorbs the custard.
  3. Heat butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add soaked bread cubes in a single layer and cook, turning occasionally, for 5–6 minutes until all sides are golden brown and crisp.
  5. In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  6. Brush cooked French toast bites with melted butter and toss in cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
  7. Serve warm, with maple syrup or whipped cream for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for better texture and absorption.
  • For a twist, try adding a dash of nutmeg or swapping in flavored syrups.
  • These are best served immediately while warm and crisp.
