Ingredients
Scale
For the Dip
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- Green gel food coloring (a few drops, to achieve desired color)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream, cold
- Optional: 1 tablespoon milk, if needed for consistency
For Garnish
- Red heart sprinkles
- Red & green jimmies
For Serving
- Graham crackers
- Cookies
- Fruit (such as sliced strawberries or apple wedges)
- Pretzels
Instructions
- Heat-Treat the Flour: In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the flour in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until it reaches 160°F, or bake it on a baking sheet at 300°F for 10 minutes. Let the flour cool completely before using to eliminate any potential bacteria.
- Cream Butter Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, kosher salt, and a few drops of green gel food coloring together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Adjust the food coloring for a vibrant Grinch-green hue.
- Combine Flour and Dough: Add the cooled, heat-treated flour to the butter mixture and mix until just combined. If the mixture is too dry or crumbly, add 1 tablespoon of milk to reach a soft, dip-like dough consistency.
- Whip the Cream: In a separate chilled bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until medium peaks form, about 2–3 minutes with an electric mixer.
- Fold Ingredients: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cookie dough base until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the Grinch Dip to a serving bowl. Sprinkle red heart sprinkles and red & green jimmies on top for a festive finish. Serve with graham crackers, cookies, fruit, or pretzels for dipping.
