Description
These sparkling sugared cranberries are a festive, sweet-tart treat made with just three simple ingredients. Perfect for snacking, garnishing cocktails, decorating cakes, or adding a pop of holiday cheer to any dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Rinse the cranberries and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved to form a simple syrup.
- Remove the syrup from heat and let cool slightly (about 5 minutes).
- Add the cranberries to the syrup and stir to coat evenly. Let them sit for about 5–10 minutes.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cranberries to a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Let them dry at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Once tacky but not wet, roll the cranberries in the remaining 1/2 cup sugar to coat completely.
- Allow them to dry for another 30–60 minutes until crisp and sparkling.
Notes
- Make sure the syrup isn’t too hot when adding cranberries to avoid bursting them.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
- Great as a garnish for holiday drinks, cheeseboards, or desserts.
